Another action was held today, O-21, outside the Fiscal Justicia in Caracas in an effort to liberate the 3 prisoners from the O-12 actions
At 11 am this morning, people began gathering in Parque Carabobo in Caracas, across the street from the office of the attorney general to protest for the release of the prisoners who were arrested after the a statue of Columbus was toppled in Plaza Venezuela in honor of the Day of Indigenous Resistance (see front page articles) There was a man making screen prints on tee shirts with picture of the statue of Columbus in mid-topple and text saying, "Yo tambien, soy responsable..." which is the buss phrase of the ongoing solidarity campaign(to learn more about the solidarity campaign read "Si Somos Responsables") There were also people handing out a newspaper style print out of an article pronouncing the next statues to topple (see front panel article La Proxima Estatuas a Derribar...) At about 11:30 banners were stretched out across the sidewalk that had slogans such as "Libertad a l@s camarad@s, Jucio a tod@s Nuestramerikan@s" and "A derribar el poder establicido y corrupto."
At about 12pm the group, which had by that point had grown to about 100 people, moved across the street to the the attorney general´s office. At that point a small group of about five were permitted to enter the building to present the document "Si Somos Responsables," (a document written and signed by over 200 participants and supporters declaring thre legitimacy of the the action and demanding the the prisoners either be freed or that all 200 of them get sent to a collective trial.) The document was accepted, but the participants were informed that it would take time to process and no definitive decision could be made at that time.
The five returned to the front of the building and annouced the news, which was followed by speeches promising to strengthen the campaign and move it beyond solidarity with their commrades to a general battle against the corruption that their detainement represents.
The action was closed with music and dancing and announcements for a meeting to begin building a "So Called Front of Pachamerican Liberation."
